And, as anyone in Ferndale can tell you, an open mind can change your life for the better, especially when it comes to advancements in personal health – like using Invisalign to straighten your teeth.
At Bradley M. Silber, DDS & Associates we use cutting-edge technologies like Invisalign to provide the best care for our patients.
We all know the traditional “brackets and wire” braces – these used to be the only option to treat misaligned teeth. They can be uncomfortable, unsightly, and inconvenient. Metal wires can poke and irritate the inside of your mouth. They can make brushing and flossing considerably more difficult. Traditional braces can also affect your speech patterns. Fortunately, for patients with mild to moderate dental misalignment, Invisalign offers a preferable way to straighten teeth without the discomfort and inconvenience of brackets and wires.
Here are 5 intriguing facts about Invisalign.
1: Customized Just for You
Invisalign has revolutionized the world of orthodontics by providing an alternative to metal braces: clear plastic aligners.
Each set of aligners is custom made just for you.
This cutting-edge method ensures a precise and comfortable fit throughout the treatment process.
We’ll begin by taking a mold of your complete set of teeth. This mold will then be transformed into a digital model. Using this model, a series of unique plastic aligners will be crafted, each designed to move you closer to your ultimate dental goal.
With each aligner you wear, you’ll be one step closer to achieving that beautiful, straight smile that you’ve been dreaming of.
2: No Harmful Chemicals
Some people may understandably have concerns about the safety of the materials used in the creation of the aligners. However, we can put these worries to rest.
Invisalign aligners are constructed from medical grade polyurethane resin, which is completely safe. No harmful chemicals included.
Invisalign aligners have been approved by the FDA, and rigorous testing has shown that they don’t pose any risk to your health or well-being.
With such high standards involved, you can feel confident in the effectiveness and safety of your Invisalign aligners.
3: No Eating Restrictions
While metal braces come with a number of eating restrictions (popcorn, sticky candy, hard taco shells, etc.), Invisalign allows you to eat whatever you want during treatment.
However, you’re going to want to remove your aligners before eating, to avoid damaging the plastic.
While you may be tempted to keep your aligners in while you snack throughout the day, you’re definitely going to want to take them out if you plan on chewing gum or any sugary foods, as they can cause damage to the material.
Still, you can suck on sugar-free mints while leaving the aligners in – a small indulgence that won’t impact your Invisalign treatment progress.
With proper care and attention, Invisalign can help you achieve the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted!
4: Aligners Should Be Worn 20-22 Hours a Day
To achieve the smile of your dreams with Invisalign, there’s one crucial rule that you don’t want to ignore: Wearing your trays 20 to 22 hours a day.
This may seem like a daunting task, but it’s essential for the success of your treatment.
Over time, the aligners gently move your teeth into their proper position, resulting in a straighter smile. Consistency is key here. Even missing a few hours a day can significantly delay the progress of your treatment.
However, the silver lining is that the movements are made gradually over months, minimizing discomfort and pain.
5: Celebrities Use Invisalign
Invisalign has become a go-to choice for many celebrities.
Unlike conventional braces, Invisalign is virtually undetectable, offering a discreet option for those looking to straighten their teeth without any hindrance to their professional life.
Some of the celebrities who have used Invisalign include:
- Tom Cruise
- Zendaya
- Emma Watson
- Serena Williams
- Oprah Winfrey
- Zac Efron

What to Expect at Our Office
To fit your for Invisalign, first we will take a mold of your complete dentition. The mold is then scanned, and a digital model is created. The model is used to create a series of individual plastic aligners; each aligner in the series is based on the stages of improved alignment between the current position of your teeth and your desired results.
Invisalign aligners are made of a smooth and nearly invisible plastic. Most patients find that their aligners are hardly noticeable. They’re comfortable and will not affect your speech because they are fully customized to fit your teeth perfectly. Because Invisalign is easily removable, it’s simple to keep your teeth clean by brushing and flossing regularly.
